Reducing waste by 75% – how do you do it?

Reducing waste by 75% – how do you do it?

30% production efficiency improvement – that’s a quote that we just published on our recently updated website.

The full quote is:

“ZenSmart has given us a 30% increase in production efficiency and our calmest peak season ever. It’s allowed us to take on more volume, without increasing headcount and made us more profitable.” – Sruli Leider, Senior Director, Printique

So this week I wanted to back over what we see as being the actions that create outcomes like these.  Or put another way, what are the ingredients of performance?

Our philosophy is:

1) Everything is a business rule, that is executed to least cost within SLA

2) Every component of every order is trackable i.e. uniquely barcoded

3) Every production stage that has an identity which we call a Station Code

4) Every action, whether its by a machine or a person is recorded which means accountability

5)  Every fail is recorded and automated

Why does this formula work?

Because the plant becomes organized to its optimal efficiency as part of its DNA, all work becomes visible and accountable which encourages superior performance and every unit of production is important with minimum rework.

The outcome is that wasted labor is eliminated, materials cost slashed and SLA adhered to and that 30% efficiency gain.

Reducing waste is an essential part of optimizing print production. Techniques aimed at minimizing waste in inkjet and silver halide printing not only help lower material costs but also improve environmental sustainability, leading to more efficient production processes.

There’s a lot of detail that sits within the philosophy so please reach out if you would like to know more or visit us at zensmart.ai.

Go well.
