ZenSmart – plugging DecoNetwork into full factory automation

ZenSmart – plugging DecoNetwork into full factory automation

We went production live with a DecoNetwork print on demand apparel site last week – so I thought I should talk a bit about what we are doing and how we are transforming this site and explaining how we fit relative to DecoNetwork.

If you are not familiar with DecoNetwork – it is a MIS platform used in the apparel marketplace.

It’s a widely installed solution that provides a front end web-2-print capability as well as the typical MIS feature set of customer comm’s, quoting/estimating/scheduling, artwork workflow, print ready file generation and with many other features.

But like all MIS production workflow, true production workflow automation is rudimentary. It determines what you need to make – not how you make it and how to combine your orders to peak picking and production efficiency.

So what we do is automate the factory workflows.  Rather than people having to manually move files, manually submit to production, generate pick lists, manually move  items through production stages updating production statuses, manually handle quality defects and on and on – we automate all those manual steps.

At this site using our easy to use drag and drop Flow Designer, we have converted all production into a workflow where work “flows” through the factory according to the business’s rules.  Inside the flow  everything becomes a scan. A scan to record work, a scan to get instructions, a scan to pick, a scan to initiate actions and move work on.  This means everything is visible up to the minute.

And because every scan is data it means that everybody gets a real time dashboard that tells them 1) what’s left to do 2) current stats and 3) current issues.

Financially what are we doing for this DecoNetwork site:

  1. cutting costs
  2. enabling scale
  3. lifting performance and customer satisfaction
  4. making them more agile than their competitors

And that’s a powerful outcome.

If you want to know more about how your DecoNetwork implementation can be 100% automated. Reach out, we’d love to talk with you about it.
