What happens when an order is quality failed in POD?

Managing failures and manufacturing processes has always been a pain point for POD sites because every single unit matters.

Whether it’s a print defect or a manufacturing error, the traditional approach means the manually rerouting of a job for reprinting or rework.

It’s a time-consuming and painful process.

  • Physically transfer the job to a Supervisor for review (or get the Press Room to secretly reprint so no-one knows)
  • Wait for reprocessing (often it sits in staging for a while or it gets lost)
  • While this happens the order has become invisible
  • And, usually, the whole job is reprinted in its entirety when that may not be needed but it’s too hard to handle a partial remake

It’s a slow, labor-intensive process that can lead to further errors, increased material waste, and significant labor costs.

The solution is to 100% automate the process and ensure 100% accountability for the fail and rework with cost transparency.

For a deep dive on the topic head over to the blog on the ZenSmart website and have a read.

On the site you will find an article called “Enhancing Print-on-Demand Efficiency: Best Practice in Automated Quality Fail Management”. It explains how to manage quality failures to maintain productivity, meet SLA targets and sustain profitability.

For print-on-demand businesses, automating quality fail management is essential to maintaining efficiency. By implementing automated systems to handle quality control, companies can reduce errors, improve output consistency, and ensure that defects are caught early in the production process.

Understanding ZenSmart’s approach to managing quality failures is essential for businesses seeking to improve their operational efficiency. By implementing linked scans, companies can identify and address quality issues proactively, ensuring a smoother production process and minimizing waste.

Managing quality fails efficiently is key to minimizing production disruptions. Implementing automated systems can drastically reduce downtime and errors.

Go well.
