Why Automation unlocks the 1% wins that MIS can’t see (Video)

< 1 min read

In this video, Andrew Smith, Founder | MD at ZenSmart, explains why traditional MIS systems provide only a surface-level view—and how true workflow automation unlocks the deep operational insights needed to drive real profit improvement through small, cumulative gains.

In most factories that we implement a full automation solution in, there’s normally an existing investment in an MIS. So one of the common questions I get is, well, what’s the difference between an MIS and an automation solution? The answer is that an MIS typically runs at a much higher level. It tends to see the business as a whole rather than giving you deep insight into what’s happening within the different product groups at a primary, secondary and tertiary level across all the different people, different product codes, across different clients. It’s basically the difference between being able to see the business at a very precise level that automation provides, or at a series of averages or a very high-level view. The reality is that profitability can be substantially improved by executing a series of small improvements. Automation gives you the ability to find a series of 1 percent gains that put them all together and you can make a substantial impact to the profit performance of your business. So that’s what automation enables. It gives you the visibility and the granularity to see slices of your organization in a way that you’ve never seen before. If you’d like to know more about how automation can underpin and elevate the way that you go about running your business, reach out. We’d love to speak with you about it.
