It’s interesting to see how the definition of print-on-demand is shifting. The research houses like Ramview Research are defining it narrowly as being apparel, drinkware, home decor, accessories and other. It’s a $6.4 billion global market growing at 25% per annum, forecasts to continue at least to 2032. Importantly, they leave out fibre. Anyway, what it does highlight is the stellar growth rate of apparel and drinkware. So what’s driving the growth? We see four key forces. One, equipment and ease of entry. DTF and DICE are relatively low-cost entry technologies and there’s a lot of new entrants. Two, Instagram and TikTok. The ability to mass communicate style and create trends and a following for that trend is hugely influential. Three, sustainability. In apparel in particular, there is a strong focus on the 30% of apparel manufacturing that goes straight to landfill. Shifting to production to pod is an important solution to waste. And fourthly, e-commerce and channels to market. The marketplaces combined with Instagram and TikTok provide an outlet to distribute and ability to create channels to market for small brands. Collectively, this creates a massive brandswell. Brand has never been more important. If you’re an apparel or merchandise and would like to know how to run your factory to peak efficiency and ride the wave of this incredible 25% per annum growth rate in apparel and drinkware, reach out, talk to us. We’d love to talk with you about how we can help you bring peak efficiency to how you go about manufacturing. Go well.
