RIPs with rich integration capability

RIPs with rich integration capability

One of the enemies of print on demand workflow are islands of activity. In these islands no-one quite knows what’s happening until work emerges from the other side.

At ZenSmart, we’re big fans of deep integration and have an absolute “no-islands” policy, particularly with RIP systems.

Not all RIPs are created equal – with some RIPs getting things like print status and RIP/press errors in an automated way is a no go. In this case, you need additional scanners on the backend of the press to provide a resilient workflow.

This island creates a problem and can lead to higher labor costs, inefficient press utilization, errors and missed production deadlines.

That’s why we are fans of RIPs with rich integration capability – like Canon Prisma, EFI Fiery,  Caldera, Wasatch SoftRIP, Serendipity Megarip and Onyx Thrive (note some of these RIPs need additional options to be licenced).

In our experience, these enable you to achieve next level automation in your workflow.

When a platform like ZenSmart talks to RIPs at a deep level,  you create an intelligent bridge. This enables total automation between queued work, imposition and submission to the press RIP.

The benefits include:

  • Reduced press and prepress labor costs
  • Remove chance of human error
  • Faster queued to press time
  • Increased press utilization
  • Rich job status information
  • Automated error management re-queue or retry
