At the end of January, I was at the Impressions show at Long Beach. There were some great speakers and DTF was certainly the hot topic of the show across all the presentations and seminars that I went to. And DTF offers versatility, vibrant prints, lower entry costs compared with DTG, and it’s definitely winning in the small to mid market. But consistent quality isn’t guaranteed unless all of your key variables are tightly controlled. So keeping on top of DTF quality is a challenge. You need to balance keeping control of temp and humidity. And actually interestingly, I was talking to one of the distributors at the show who was saying that 90% of the DTF quality issues that they encountered related to bad factory environment. You need to balance your pet film. It’s a complex product and you really need to watch your moisture levels. You might even have to preheat your film. You need to keep your ink levels right and select the inks that match your printer. They do vary a lot. You need to understand your powder, your finer grinds give you better resolution and better color gradients. You need to adjust your pressing technique depending on the appealing method and your fabric type. And so the key takeaway is that running good DTF production to great quality levels is all about knowing the quality fail reasons to give you the data to know where you need to be better. And using a platform like ZenSmart we can provide 100% automation of this function. We can give you the ability to integrate quality directly in how you run your manufacturing and even give you the cost data and the file percentages to enable you to run your factory at a dramatically more efficient level. So if you’d like to know how we could go about helping you automate a function like that reach out. We’d love to talk with you about it.
