Challenges Facing On-Demand Manufacturers (Video)

2 min read

In tough economic times, significant challenges face on-demand manufacturers. What are these challenges?

In this video, I break down a few broader economic issues as well as challenges that I’ve seen, all too often, on the factory floor.

But I’ve also seen how these issues can be overcome.

Watch the video, and then let me know if you’d like to have a conversation about how to address the challenges facing on-demand manufacturers. I may just have a solution you hadn’t considered before.

What’s bothering on-demand manufacturers? Growth may be strong in many parts of the market, but nevertheless there are many challenges manufacturers have to overcome. Firstly, broader economic issues like price inflation, driving labour, materials and shipping costs are a real challenge, with most manufacturers taking a margin hit. Then there’s the pressure of staff shortages in many geographies creating daily operational challenges. Add the still lingering effects of supply chain issues, and it creates a pretty challenging mix. These macro and microeconomic issues are impacting on-demand manufacturing in particular. When thousands or tens of thousands of products are being produced in parallel with a huge number of finished type and option variations, custom manufacturers need a secret tool in their toolkit, a way of facing challenges and rising above them. I’ve been in this industry a long time, and I’ve seen the frustrations that are manifested on the factory floor. The inability to identify sources of inefficiency and waste, invisible products in workflow, low productivity in staff lacking accountability, a fear of implementing new products. But I’ve also seen how these issues can be overcome. And while manufacturers can do very little to address macroeconomic issues, they certainly can make significant differences to the way they work. When you’re ready to operate as an agile, innovative manufacturer with sharp insight into costs and margins, let me know. I know a tool that could make a positive difference to your on-demand manufacturing process, sharply increase profit margins, and improve the way you operate forever. Ring my bell or direct message me if you’d like to know more.

Using IoT for quality control can significantly enhance manufacturing processes by providing real-time data on critical parameters like moisture levels. By integrating IoT solutions, companies can monitor conditions closely, ensuring that products meet quality standards and reducing waste caused by defects or inconsistencies. This approach leads to more efficient operations and higher customer satisfaction.

Understanding the risks of print-on-demand side businesses is crucial for aspiring entrepreneurs. It’s essential to navigate challenges to ensure sustainable growth.
